Training Subsidy Scheme for the Self Employed and Employees of Micro Enterprises of 10 or less employees

 

Training Subsidy Scheme Objectives

The Training Subsidy Scheme, part of the ESF Funded Employability Programme, aims to assist self-employed persons and persons employed in micro-enterprises of 10 or less  employees, to develop their skills by participating in further off-the-job vocational education and training.

The Training Subsidy Scheme offers assistance in the form of a training grant to aid participants with costs related to training. This grant will be awarded to the individuals after successful completion of their training.


Who can participate in the Training Subsidy Scheme
?

Any self-employed person or individual who has been in employment with an enterprise for at least three months can apply.  Employees who are apprentices but meet the above criteria are also eligible. In all cases this must be the applicant’s primary employment.


Choice of training

The training must lead to the acquisition of transferable vocational skills ideally compatible with the individual’s occupation at the time of application, and is to be delivered by a training institution approved by the Corporation.

Procedure

Persons wishing to participate in this Scheme are to personally inform the Training Subsidy Scheme Unit at ETC of their intention to undergo training. This MUST be done at least fifteen working days before the commencement of training.  Applicants will be required to complete the relevant documentation for request of Training Subsidy Scheme grants and must include the following information:

  • A fully filled in Application Form and Diversity & Equal Opportunities Monitoring Form.
  • Details and a copy of the training programme

Originals of receipts of payment together with the original Certificate of Achievement or Attendance issued by the approved training provider for the Training Programme undertaken are to be presented to the Training Subsidy Scheme Unit within three months after the successful completion of the Training Programme. The duly filled in original Trainee Attendance Sheet should also be submitted at this stage.


The Training Subsidy Scheme Grant

The reimbursement will be of 75% of the direct training cost up to a maximum of €1,000. The costs involved for the acquisition of tools or equipment associated with the training and the costs to cover tests/examinations and/or registration fees for the final certification, will not qualify for reimbursement.

The individual may avail him/her self of this training grant either through one application or through a number of applications where the aggregate refunds will not exceed € 1,000.00
